THE GALESHEWE SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit is searching for a suspect after a 16-year-old girl was raped at Hulana Park in Galeshewe.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was offered a lift home by the suspect, only known as Thabang, from a well-known nightclub in Kimberley on Sunday, January 15.

“He drove and parked at Hulana Park and demanded sex from the victim as payment for the lift. The victim refused and he then forced himself on her,” said Sam.

He added that the suspect was driving a white VW Golf GTI.

The police have requested the public to assist with information that may lead to the apprehension and arrest of the suspect and the investigation of the case.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Loo Mamapula, at 083 369 3589 or 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS app.
