Galeshewe police seek assistance in tracing child rape suspect

THE GALESHEWE SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a rape case involving a six-year-old girl, which occurred on Monday, July 18 in Galeshewe.

The police need assistance in tracing the suspect.

The child was reportedly snatched near her home by the suspect, who raped her in a nearby veld.

Police spokesperson captain Sergio Kock said that the incident happened at about 5.30pm when the young girl and a friend were playing near the girl’s home in Madiba Street, Galeshewe.

“The suspect approached them and wanted to lure the children with food money. When the children refused, the suspect grabbed the victim and fled into a nearby veld, where he raped her,” said Kock

The police have requested that anyone with information about the incident contact Detective Sergeant Tanya Serfontein on 082 495 4605.
