Galeshewe police seek assistance in ’mob justice’ murder case

The Galeshewe police are investigating a murder case following the discovery of a man’s body at a soccer field in Bloemanda on Monday.

THE GALESHEWE police are investigating a murder case following the discovery of a man’s body at a soccer field in Bloemanda on Monday.

It is believed that the deceased, Themba Mgxabazi, 30, was the victim of a mob justice attack on Sunday night after being accused of criminal activities.

Mgxabazi’s body was found with his hands and feet bound. His hands were tied with shoelaces while his feet were tied together with a belt.

Mgxabazi, who is well known to the community, was reported to have been residing in the same area where his body was found.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said preliminary investigations indicate that Mgxabazi was assaulted.

Sam explained that the assailant/s tied both his hands and feet together before dumping him at the soccer field.

“A male suspect between the ages of 30 to 40 years old was arrested and is in police custody,” said Sam. “He is expected to appear in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.”
