THE N8 between Bloemfontein and Kimberley was closed yesterday following an accident involving a truck carrying fuel

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said yesterday that the truck overturned approximately 70km outside of Bloemfontein on the Petrusburg road.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the truck lying on its side across the entire road. Two men were sitting some distance away on the side of the road.”

According to Meiring, both men, who were assessed by paramedics on the scene, had sustained moderate injuries.

“The men were treated for their injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.”

Meiring added that the patients later told paramedics that the truck was carrying a fuel, which had begun leaking on the road when the truck overturned.

“Emergency services closed both sides of the road and set a 1km perimeter around the vehicle. They were able to clean up the scene and the truck was later removed.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
