Four if the six accused who were arrested by the Hawks on charges of fraud and corruption to the value of R11 million involving the procurement of hospital equipment at the Northern Cape Department of Health received bail of R50 000 each in the Kimberley magistrate’s court today.
The accused were arrested during an operation that was conducted in Bloemfontein, Kimberley and Johannesburg yesterday.
The charges relate to the flouting of tender procedures for tenders that were awarded between 2013 and 2016.
The bail application for the remaining two accused will be heard on Friday.
