A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the cash-in-transit robbery that took place in Upington earlier this year.

A 38-YEAR-old man has been arrested in connection with the cash-in-transit robbery that took place in Upington on April 6.

Northern Cape Hawks spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi said the man was arrested by the Tactical Response Team (TRT) in Bloemfontein and he is the fourth suspect to be arrested in the matter.

“It is alleged that two security guards were loading cash at an automated teller machine (ATM) at Kalahari Mall when five unknown suspects held them up at gunpoint. The suspects fled with two cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money,” said Mnisi.

“The co-accused, Tshepiso Mojaki, 38, a security officer who is allegedly linked to the crime, was released on bail of R2,000, while Frederick Faku, 57, and Mbulelo Mbelo were each released on bail of R5,000.”

Mnisi said the suspect is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.

“He is expected to appear in the Upington Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. He will join the other co-accused at a later stage, subsequent to his first court appearance,” she said.
