The owner of a VW Golf was pepper-sprayed before the alleged suspects fled in his car.
FOUR suspects will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court today for allegedly hijacking a vehicle last month.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Dimakatso Mooi, said that the owner of a VW Golf was pepper-sprayed before the alleged suspects fled in his car.
“It is alleged that on Friday, April 13, 2018, at approximately 11.15pm, the victim parked his blue VW Citi Golf in Korhaan Street in Roodepan when four suspects approached him and asked for a cigarette. The victim told them that he does not smoke and one of the suspects pepper-sprayed him. They fled the scene with the victim’s car, cellphone and wallet,” said Mooi.
She added that parts of the car were later recovered.
“The victim alerted the police, who were within the vicinity, and a preliminary investigation led the police to the shack of one of the suspects, where some parts of the vehicle were recovered.
“Four suspects, two of which are female, were arrested and charged with hijacking.
“The VW Citi Golf was later recovered stripped in a veld in Roodepan. “The police investigation continues,” Mooi said.
