FOUR teenagers are currently in custody following an attack on an elderly Kenhardt resident on Tuesday afternoon.

“Police are investigation a house robbery after four minor boys were arrested for their alleged involvement in this criminal act,” said SAPS provincial spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kock.

“At about 3.30pm on Tuesday, the four boys, aged between 14 and 16, allegedly entered the house of a 71-year-old man in town and threatened him with a hammer and other dangerous weapons.

“They allegedly choked him with a rope and tied him to a chair before fleeing with car keys, house keys, money and alcohol.”

According to Kock, a neighbour alerted the police to the suspicious activity next door.

“The Kenhardt police followed up on information and managed to arrest the four minors in Donkerhoek, Kenhardt.

“Upon further investigation, police members found the victim’s VW Golf inside his yard packed full of groceries, apparently to be taken at a later stage.

“Police also found the alcohol, house and vehicle keys with the suspects.”

The teens are currently in custody and will be assessed by social workers today.

“The police investigation continues.”
