FOUR suspects were arrested in Postmasburg and Danielskuil by members of the ZF Mgcawu District Task Team and the Upington K9 unit for dealing in drugs.

Upington police spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said drugs, including mandrax, tik and dagga, with an estimated street value of R25,700 were confiscated during the operation on Sunday.

“Four suspects between the ages of 26 and 49 years were arrested for dealing in drugs. The police continued to sweep the streets for any illegal activities and six more people were arrested for riotous behaviour.”

Masegela added that the police in Rosedale arrested three men and a woman, aged between 18 and 33 years old, for an armed robbery that occurred on October 22.

“The firearm that was used in the commission of the alleged crime has been confiscated and sent for ballistic testing.”

Masegela stated that all the suspects were expected to appear in their respective courts soon.

The acting district commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, Brigadier Peet Coetzee, conveyed his gratitude to the SAPS members “for their efforts in securing the environment”.
