THE HAWKS’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit in Springbok, assisted by the Public Order Police, arrested four men for being in possession of heroin with an estimated street value of R155,000 on Monday.

Hawks Northern Cape provincial spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi said that one of the suspects had concealed the drugs by wrapping them around his body.

“The investigation team conducted surveillance on a suspicious vehicle. A transaction was made involving black plastic bags that were linked to another vehicle that was used to commit the alleged crime. The vehicle was intercepted and the team conducted a search. One suspect was found with drugs wrapped around his body – weighing 0.775 kilograms with an estimated street value of R155,000. The drugs were subsequently seized for further investigation,” said Mnisi.

She added that four suspects, who are between the ages of 34 and 41 years old, were arrested and are expected to appear before the Springbok Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, February 9.
