He added that the Kathu police station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Sethibogile Modise, activated a team comprising of Kathu Visible Policing, Kuruman K9 under the command of Captain Frans Matlhare, as well as Andre Schoeman of Rhino Security company after receiving information about the robbery.

Letsapa said within two hours the team managed to successfully intercept the red Polo.

“The team searched the vehicle and the two occupants who were travelling inside the Polo were unable to provide valid reasons for the possession of the cash. The duo were arrested and charged for robbery.”

He added that at about 6pm that day, another two suspects were arrested in Promiseland outside Kuruman after they were also found in possession of an undisclosed amount of money.

“All four suspects will appear in the Postmansburg Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of robbery.”

The acting district commander of the John Taolo Gaetsewe district, Brigadier Johnny Besnaar, applauded the team for their swift response that led to the arrest of the four suspects and the recovery of the stolen cash.

“This collaboration is a clear indication of partnership policing in the fight against crime.”
