Four people – Norton Carl Howard, 43, Charles Moses Howard, 56, Jezeral Selvin, 39, and Kenshia Charlene Howard, 36 – appeared briefly in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges of fraud.
FOUR accused, Norton Carl Howard, 43, Charles Moses Howard, 56, Jezeral Selvin, 39, and Kenshia Charlene Howard, 36, appeared briefly in the Kuruman Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on charges of fraud.
Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Tebogo Thebe said Norton Howard allegedly fraudulently used the credentials of Kallies Business Enterprises CC in April 2010 to bid for a tender at Kumba Iron Ore in Kathu that was advertised by Anglo American.
“As a result of the misrepresentation, he was awarded the tender for plant maintenance,” said Thebe.
“It is further alleged that in August 2018 he made a misrepresentation to the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC). He submitted another fraudulent resolution to the CIPC that the members of Kallies Enterprises had resigned. As a result, the membership of the close corporation was amended where the father and siblings of the accused were added as new members of the entity.”
Thebe said that the complainant suffered losses amounting to R61 million.
He added that Norton was granted R50,000 bail while the other three accused were released on R30,000 bail each.
“The matter was postponed until November 3 for further investigation.”
