FORMER MEC for Education Zolile Monakali has been appointed as a political adviser in the private Office of the Premier.

While he was included at number 13 on the ANC province-to-province list, Monakali was not sworn in as a member of the provincial legislature (MPL).

The spokesperson for the Office of the Premier, Bronwyn Thomas-Abrahams, said Monakali would assist the premier to accelerate service delivery in the Province.

She said Monakali began his professional career as an educator in 1994 and held several management positions in local and provincial government from 2003 until 2020.

“He served as the executive mayor of the Pixley ka Seme district from 2020 to 2021. Political education and consciousness are an integral part of his identity. He was a political activist from an early age and held leadership roles at branch and regional level. He was appointed as the ANC regional chairperson of the Pixley ka Seme district in 2013. He was elected to serve on the ANC provincial executive committee in 2021.”

Thomas-Abrahams added that Monakali held a secondary teachers diploma, a BTech degree in education management, a postgraduate diploma in public management and a Masters in public administration.
