FF+ councillor Johan Smit said that he was contacted after a person had off-loaded rubble at the dump on Tuesday.
“He saw the foetus the following day when he returned to the site,” Smit explained.
SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock confirmed that the police were notified of the discovery on October 9, and officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“The Kimberley SAPS is investigating an inquest after a foetus was discovered at the Kimberley dumping site. The police were contacted on Wednesday at 11.20am and all the relevant role-players attended the scene,” said Kock.
He added that no arrests have been made in connection with the matter.
