Five suspects arrested during police raids in Hanover

During a recent police operation in Hanover, multiple locations were searched, leading to the arrest of five individuals for various offences, including drug dealing, contravening the National Credit Act, illegal possession of ammunition and stock theft.

THE PROVINCIAL SAPS Task Team, with support from the Hanover police, recently conducted a successful operation targeting suspected drug dealing activities in Hanover.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said that acting on information received, the team swiftly moved to search several identified premises on August 15, leading to the arrest of five suspects.

Among those apprehended were a 33-year-old woman and four men aged between 28 and 63. The suspects were charged with various offences, including drug dealing, contravening the National Credit Act, the illegal possession of ammunition and stock theft.

During the operation, the police also confiscated drugs with an estimated street value of R12,245 and cash believed to be proceeds of crime.

The acting provincial commissioner of the SAPS in the Northern Cape, Major-General Luntu Ngubelanga, praised the task team for their relentless efforts and commended the community for their co-operation in providing crucial information that led to the arrests.

Major-General Ngubelanga emphasised the importance of community involvement in combating drug-related activities and ensuring the safety of the community.
