Five arrested for drugs

Arrests part of Festive Season operation.

FIVE suspects were arrested after police found drugs with an estimated street value of more than R25 000 and an undisclosed amount of cash in their possession.

Police spokesperson, Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the suspects were arrested during ongoing Festive Season Operations which are conducted throughout the province.

“The suspects, aged between 24 and 36 years, are expected to appear in the Pampierstad Magistrate’s Court on a charge of dealing in drugs on December 28, 2021.

“Members of Hartswater K9 unit, Crime Intelligence and Pampierstad Visible Police acted on drug dealing information which directed them to a house in Sakhile Village in Pampierstad. A search and seizure was conducted at the premises. Three of the suspects are Nigerian nationals and two are South African nationals.

“The suspects were found in possession of crystal meth with an estimated street value of more than R25 000 as well as money believed to be the proceeds of drug dealings.The arrest of the suspects is the result of continuous Festive Season Operation to address illicit drug dealing and to combat criminal activities,” he said.
