The other five suspects are still on the run and members of the public are urged to contact the police should they have information regarding their whereabouts.

ONE OF the six suspects who allegedly attacked a 60-year-old farmer in Niekerkshoop was arrested by the police yesterday.

The six armed suspects allegedly accosted the farmer at his house and tied him up, before burning him with a clothes iron. The six then fled in the victim’s Toyota single-cab bakkie which was recovered about 15 kilometres outside Griquatown towards Groblershoop.

The arrested suspect is expected to appear in court today.

“Members of the public are urged to urgently contact the police with information about the whereabouts of the five robbers who are still on the run. All information received will be treated with confidence,” said the police in a statement.
