The purpose of the “Rise up Mama” event is to highlight the plight and struggles that women go through on a daily basis

MUSICAL PROWESS: Mafikizolo

LOCAL city nightclub, Black Diamond, will be hosting its first outdoor picnic event on Saturday in commemoration of Women’s Month.

According to the owner of Black Diamond, Donald Solani, the purpose of the “Rise up Mama” event is to highlight the plight and struggles that women go through on a daily basis.

It promises to be a spectacular event with a line-up to match.

Patrons will be treated to one of South Africa’s most favourite music duo, Mafikizolo (consisting of Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Nciza). The dynamic duo recently celebrated their 20-year journey in the music industry with a tour across the globe.

Mafikizolo’s music deals with pertinent social issues such as women and children abuse, poverty and the importance of education.

Solani saw it fit to invite the famed duo as the headline act at Saturday’s event.

Mafikizolo kept South Africa and the rest of the world dancing with their trademark blend of Afro pop, Kwela and Marabi sounds. The duo continues to be a force to be reckoned with powerful hits like O tswa Kae, O dakwa Njalo and Ndihamba Nawe.

Their new album, Mafikizolo 20, is now on sale and includes the hit O Fana Nawe, featuring Nigerian superstar Yemi Alade.

Over a million copies have been sold by the BET nominees, MTV Africa winners and multiple Sama winners.

Local acts Deekamo, Prudence, Rhythmic vocalists, Mizz Kelz, Ole on da mic, Ntwana ya Kasi, Pelo SKM and resident DJs Colin Carey, Simba, Cxlypsoul and several others are included in the line-up for this Saturday at Black Diamond.

“I am extremely humbled and grateful to Black Diamond for this amazing opportunity and platform to share the stage with Mafikizolo and to celebrate Women’s Month with my fans and the loyal patrons,” local sensation, Deekamo, said.

“My fans can expect nothing but good RnB feels and happy vibes.”

The outdoor picnic event will start at 1pm while tickets are available at Computicket.
