EIGHT men were arrested by the Warrenton police on charges of illegal possession of ammunition, dangerous weapons and drugs.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the suspects, who are aged between 18 and 47 years old, were arrested during a joint SAPS operation.

“The Warrenton SAPS Crime Prevention (A-Relief) and Jan Kempdorp and Pampierstad Crime Prevention unit members conducted a joint operation on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The team followed up on information and pounced on eight males in a shack in Ikhutseng, Warrenton. The police searched the premises and found an antique toy gun, seven rounds of ammunition in a magazine, tik and mandrax worth R600,” said Kock.

He said the suspects will appear in the Warrenton Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of illegal possession of ammunition, dangerous weapons and drugs.
