THE EFF in the Northern Cape visited Steynville Primary School in Hopetown to hand over school uniforms to pupils when the school opened for the 2022 academic year on Wednesday.

The delegation, led by EFF provincial secretary Shadrack Tlhaole and Thembelihle Local Municipality mayor Leonard Mckenna, was welcomed by the school management, the school governing body (SGB) and parents.

The donation of school uniforms was welcomed and the delegation was thanked for putting a smile on the faces of pupils on their first day of schooling.

The Steynville Primary School management team thanked the EFF for their contribution and requested that it do the same for other schools in the area.

A commitment was made for the EFF to “adopt” Steynville Primary and to continue to attract support from various stakeholders to ensure educational development in the community of Hopetown.

Tlhaole thanked the school management for allowing them the opportunity to deliver on their commitment to promoting education.

Tlhaole noted the EFF mandate that no child should ever be denied an education because of material conditions or poverty.

“As the EFF, we believe that Steynville Primary will produce future leaders, scientists, engineers and more learners that will bring development in Hopetown, the region and the Province at large,” said Tlhaole.

“We continue to encourage our teachers to be patient and teach our learners, regardless of the fact that they work under extreme conditions and pressure, like where they are not being paid accordingly.

“They must think about the future and end poverty through education.”
