A 32-year-old suspect was arrested in Olifantshoek for driving under the influence and possession of drugs.
A 32-YEAR-old suspect was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and being in the possession of drugs in Olifantshoek on Monday at around 1pm.
SAPS members were conducting Operation Vhuthu Hawe disruptive actions when they noticed a vehicle that was driving recklessly.
SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said the team, led by Olifantshoek SAPS Visible Policing commander Warrant Officer Frank Witbooi, stopped and searched the vehicle. They discovered dagga with an estimated street value of R7,000 inside the boot.
“The driver was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol,” added Shemane.
The John Taolo Gaetsewe district commissioner, Major-General Johnny Besnaar, stated that they would increase efforts to remove drugs from the streets and make it impossible for drug dealers to operate in communities.
