Operation Vala Umgodi multi-disciplinary teams arrested two foreign nationals for allegedly dealing in drugs in the Kimberley Central Business District on January 3.

SAPS Northern Cape spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane said the apprehension of the two male suspects, who were 37 and 40 years old, formed part of intelligence driven actions executed by the team.

“During the operation the police obtained search and seizure warrants where suspected drugs with an estimated street value of R185 000, cellphones and money believed to be the proceeds of crime in Du Toitspan Road and Market Street, were confiscated.”

He added that Operation Vala Umgodi would continue to disrupt illegal mining and other related crime activities in the Frances Baard district.

“Illicit mining and related crimes can be reported to the police by contacting SAPS Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS App.

“All information received will be treated confidentially,” Shemane said.
