A 32-year-old man is facing more than four separate charges of housebreaking and theft after he was positively linked to several cases in Upington by DNA.

A 32-YEAR-old man is facing more than four separate charges of housebreaking and theft after he was positively linked to several cases in Upington by DNA.

Police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said the man was arrested on Wednesday by the Upington police.

“The suspect was positively linked to a series of housebreaking cases in Upington through his DNA results. The suspect was arrested after the outcome of the DNA results,” said Tawana.

“It is alleged that in one of the cases, the suspect entered the house of a 59-year-old female victim on January 21, 2021, where he gained access into the house by the use of a step-ladder. The suspect allegedly stole household contents.

“The suspect is due to appear in the Upington Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 1, on charges of theft and housebreaking.”
