Through its 145 years of existence, quite a number of staff have worked for the Diamond Fields Advertiser. Too many to name. But we can perhaps mention the editors.

Through its 145 years of existence, quite a number of staff have worked for the Diamond Fields Advertiser. Too many to name. But we can perhaps mention the editors.

Here’s a list from the first to the current editor.

1878 – 1884 HENRY TUCKER (6 years)

1884 – 1896 ROBERT FISHER WILSON (12 years)

1896 – 1898 ALBERT CARTWRIGHT (2 years)

Later editor of the Johannesburg Times

1898 – 1910 GEORGE AL GREEN (12 years)

Later editor and editor-in-chief of the Cape Argus

1910 – 1923 FRANK IRELAND (13 years)

1923 – 1932 HENRY LISSANT COLLINS (10 years)

1932 – 1938 GEORGE A SIMPSON (6 years)

1939 – 1942 A HARRINGTON (3 years)

Editor of the Bulawayo Chronicle (1918 – 1924) before being appointed editor of the DFA

1942 – 1949 REX V HALL (7 years)

Editor of the Pretoria News (1932 – 1941) before being appointed editor of the DFA

1949 – 1959 DAVID BRECHIN (10 years)
