THE DEPUTY Minister of Water and Sanitation, Sello Seitlholo, will visit Jan Kempdorp and Vryburg on Monday to address water challenges being experienced in these areas.

The head of communication for the Department of Water and Sanitation, Dr Mandla Mathebula, said Seitlholo would address the debt and billing systems of Phokwane Local Municipality in the Northern Cape and Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality in the North West.

“The deputy minister will assess infrastructure maintenance and institutional arrangements in terms of providing water services provision in Vryburg and Jan Kempdorp,” said Mathebula.

“Deputy Minister Seitlholo will attend a meeting at the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality regarding the trans-boundary bulk water supply scheme that provides water services between the Northern Cape and North West.”

He added that the minister would have an introductory meeting with the Vaalharts Water Users Association.

“The association oversees the Vaalharts Irrigation Scheme – one of the biggest irrigation projects that borders between the Northern Cape and the North West,” Mathebula pointed out.
