Dept of Health tender fraud suspects arrested

THE HAWKS Serious Corruption Investigation team arrested Godfrey Moncho, 53 and Charles Heynes, 65, on Monday June 6 on charges of fraud relating to contracts that were awarded by the Northern Cape Department of Health between 2013-2014.

Hawks provincial spokesperson Captain Tebogo Thebe said it was discovered that the owners of the companies were related.

“The business entities failed to disclose their interest and the relationship with other companies when they submitted their bid documents.

“Both suspects assisted in sourcing cover quotations even though, they were not employed in the department ‘s supply chain unit.”

He added that both suspects appeared before Kimberley Magistrate court on Monday, June 6 and were granted bail of R2,000 each.

“The matter is postponed to, 7 June 2022, for the accused join other accused at the specialised commercial crimes court.”
