THE ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in the Northern Cape has dismissed as “fake news” a social media post which advertised that ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa would visit the Province next month.

ANCYL provincial secretary, Neo Maneng, said that the poster indicated that Ramaphosa was expected to address an OR Tambo lecture at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre on August 12.

“The post stated that the event was purportedly organised by the ANCYL in the Province. The ANCYL in the Northern Cape wishes to distance itself from this fake news social media poster,” said Maneng.

“This fake news poster is the brainchild of aspirant dividers and rulers and is executed by stormtroopers in the name of sowing divisions and causing confusion in the state of affairs of the ANCYL in the Province.”

He added that the ANCYL in the Province had “never taken a decision to host any national leader on the said date”.

“The ANCYL warns these dividers, rulers and stormtroopers to desist from using the ANCYL name in advancing narrow, petty and disingenuous factional politics.”
