KURUMAN An accused, Tlotlo Timothy Ntwayagae, 27, was convicted and sentenced in the Kuruman Regional Court to five years’ imprisonment for being in possession of stolen property.

Hawks spokesperson Nomthandazo Mnisi said Ntwayagae was arrested in February 2019 after he was linked to a hijacking incident that took place in Kuruman.

“While awaiting trial, Ntwayagae escaped from custody at Kuruman Correctional Service. He was re-arrested a few weeks later and was sentenced to three years’ direct imprisonment for escaping. The case was handed over to the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit for a further probe,” said Mnisi .

Ntwayagae was on Wednesday sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for being in possession of stolen property.

The provincial head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major-General Kholekile Galawe, applauded the investigating team for “sterling work done”.

Thato Molwana

BATHLAROS The SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit are searching for a person of interest named Thato Molwana.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said that the police believe that he will be able to assist in an investigation after a man broke into a house in Bathlaros and raped a 69-year-old woman on November 19, at about 3.30am.

“All information will be treated with the strictest of confidence. The investigation continues,” said Kock.

KURUMAN The SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit is investigating a rape that took place on February 15, at about 1am.

Police spokesperson Captain Sergio Kock said that during the incident a man broke into the home of a 25-year-old woman in Mothibistad and raped her.

“It has come to the attention of the police that Obakeng Thobega is a person of interest who can assist with information regarding the incident.”

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is requested to contact Detective Sergeant Precious Schoeman on 071 492 1318 or 0800 10 111 or SMS 32211.

Kock said that all information would be treated as strictly confidential.

BARKLY WEST The Police in Barkly West are requesting assistance in the search for Katrina Jansen, 16, also known as “Babetjie”.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kock said she was last seen on Saturday, February 27 at 9pm while attending a function at the Mataleng Hall in Barkly West.

“She was dressed in blue jeans, a pink T-shirt and sandals. Anyone with information can call Detective Sergeant Kagisho Malusi on 082 458 9670. The investigation continues.”
