BATSHA ba Tirong Financial Management (Pty) Ltd and the Department of Public Works have been ordered to pay Morning Glory Security Services (Pty) Ltd a sum of R10 million plus interest of 7.25 percent per annum.

The sheriff of the court has also been issued with summons to attach the assets of Batsha ba Tirong Financial Management if they do not comply.

Morning Glory Security Services was subcontracted by Batsha ba Tirong Financial Management to provide services, where they would receive 30 percent of the total contract price per month.

Morning Glory Security Services issued a written notice to Batsha ba Tirong Financial management that they owed them R10.2 million for services rendered at the Department of Public Works.

The chairperson of the Northern Cape Civics Organisation, Ross Henderson, stated that they would monitor whether the money was paid over in accordance with the court order.

“The money must be paid directly to the subcontractor’s bank account,” said Henderson.

He added that the organisation would assist Morning Glory Security to obtain a court application to prevent the Department of Public Works from paying any money into the account of the main contractor.

“An application will also be made to freeze all existing banking accounts of Batsha ba Tirong if they do not comply with the judgment.”
