THE KIMBERLEY police are investigating a house robbery that occurred during the early hours of Sunday morning in Monument Heights, Kimberley.

A resident of Knights Castle said the incident took place at around 3am, during which a couple and their one-year-old baby were reportedly tied up and robbed at gunpoint.

The resident added that this was not the first break-in at the complex.

It was reported that gate remotes were also stolen during the incident.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Timothy Sam said preliminary investigations indicated that five assailants broke into the complainant’s apartment during the early morning hours.

“They allegedly woke them up, tied them up with shoelaces and robbed them of their belongings. The assailants left with an undisclosed amount of cash and other belongings,” said Sam.

He requested anyone with information that may assist with the investigation of the case to contact Detective Warrant Officer Desmond Markgraaf on 078 047 4437, or the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or to make use of the MySAPS app.

“All information will be treated confidentially. The investigation is continuing,” Sam added.
