There had been allegations of racism at Vaalharts Combined School and some reported challenges at Valspan Combined School.
COSATU has announced that it will visit three schools in the Northern Cape today – Warrenvale Combined School in Warrenton, Valspan Combined School and Vaalharts Combined School in Jan Kempdorp.
Provincial secretary Orapeleng Moraladi said yesterday that the leadership of Cosatu, together with its PEC members, would visit the three schools as part of the federation’s back to school campaign.
Moraladi pointed out that Warrenvale was a shining example to all that hard work pays off.
“This school has achieved a remarkable 95.5% pass rate in 2018, from below 40% in 2017.”
He added that there had been allegations of racism at Vaalharts Combined School and some reported challenges at Valspan Combined School.
“The leadership will therefore be out to listen and attempt to facilitate processes that should lead to the ultimate solutions to the problems and also to motivate teachers and pupils.”
Next Thursday (January 31), the federation will also be handing over school shoes to needy pupils at three primary schools in the Frances Baard district, namely Mosalakae Primary School in Barkly West, Letshego Primary School and Eureka Primary School in Kimberley.
