COSATU in the Northern Cape will hold National Day of Action marches in Kuruman and Kimberley on Thursday to protest against high interest rates, unemployment and attacks on collective bargaining.

Cosatu provincial secretary Orapeleng Moraladi said key demands that would be presented to employers included the prevention of crime and corruption, reducing interest rates and stopping job losses and privatisation.

“We also want the high unemployment rate to be addressed and decent jobs created. The findings of the Zondo Commission must be implemented speedily,” added Moraladi.

He stated that members would assemble at the Kemo open parking space in Kimberley from 8.30am on Thursday and proceed to the Metlife Towers building on the corner of Knight and Stead streets.

“We urge all workers and communities to come in their numbers to support the National Day of Action.”

Moraladi added that workers and community members would march from the Absa parking space in Kuruman and march to the John Taolo Gaetsewe District Municipality at 4th Federale Street at around 11.30am to hand over a memorandum.
