THE NORTHERN Cape provincial Organised Crime unit, with support from the Kimberley Flying Squad and Multi-Dimensional Organised Crime, conducted a targeted operation at a cellphone repair shop in Kimberley.
Police spokesperson Colonel Cherelle Ehlers reported that a substantial number of cellphones and laptops, suspected to be stolen, were seized during the crime intelligence-driven operation on August 15.
The seized laptops are believed to have been stolen from government departments in Kimberley. The estimated value of the recovered devices is approximately R150,000.
Two men, aged 37 and 42, were arrested during the operation. The investigation is ongoing.
Colonel Ehlers reminded consumers and shop owners that buying, selling or storing stolen goods is a criminal offence, and offenders will face legal consequences.
