Cops spoil elderly residents

The rights of the elderly were discussed and promoted during a multi disciplinary stakeholders initiative in Port Nolloth on October 13, 2021.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kock said the various law enforcement agencies participated in the initiative.

“On Wednesday, October 13, 2021 the Port Nolloth South African Police Services (SAPS), the local Community Police Forum (CPF), the Department of Safety and Liaison, SAPS Social Crime Prevention, Women’s Network and the Port Nolloth Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences unit visited the elderly in several areas in and around the area.

“During the programme discussions were held between the stakeholders and the elderly which promoted the older persons rights as stipulated in the Older Persons Act. This Act is intended to protect, promote and maintain the status, rights, well-being and security of older persons.The team also treated them with comfort packs and treats,” said Kock.
