Cops seize dagga worth R500k

THE POLICE confiscated dagga with an estimated street value of R510,000 after a vehicle was searched in Paballelo.

Upington SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Omphile Masegela said off-duty police officers from the ZF Mgcawu highway patrol activated a duty task team after they received information about dagga being transported in Upington.

“They searched the said vehicle and only found traces of dagga. The members continued on to search the residence of the driver and they found compressed dagga with an estimated street value of R510,000.”

Masegela added that a 33-year-old suspect was arrested on a charge with dealing in dagga.

“He is expected to appear in court soon.”

The acting district commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, Colonel Peet Coetzee, commended the police members for the swift arrest.
