Cops seize dagga worth over R300k in Upington

DURING the Northern Cape police’s ongoing Safer Festive Season operations, crime intelligence-led actions resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of dagga and the arrest of a 41-year-old suspect in Upington.

Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Molefi Shemane reported that information was operationalised by Crime Intelligence and the Upington Border Police, prompting a search at a targeted location on November 3, where officers discovered and confiscated dagga with an estimated street value of approximately R303,450.

A 41-year-old foreign national was subsequently arrested on charges of drug dealing.

The acting district commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, Brigadier Peet Coetzee, applauded the officers for their prompt action in removing the drugs from the streets and apprehending the suspect.

He also extended his gratitude to community members for their ongoing support and valuable information shared with the police.
