Cops offer reward for information on hospital shooting

A reward of R50 000 has been offered by the Northern Cape police for any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the four suspects who were involved in the fatal shooting at the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital.

A REWARD of R50 000 has been offered by the Northern Cape police for any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the four suspects who were involved in the fatal shooting of Deon Mkwanazi at Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley.

Mkwanazi died on September 25, 2020 after four suspects dressed in personal protective equipment (PPE) shot him in his hospital bed.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Mashay Gamieldien said all information will be handled with the strictest confidence.

“The police 72-hour activation plan was implemented and resources have been mobilised to trace and apprehend the perpetrators of the shooting.

“Anyone with information that could assist in expediting the investigation is urged to contact Brigadier Nicky Mills on 082 371 6667 or Captain Basil Buys on 082 495 5405. Information can also be relayed via the MySAPSApp. All information will be treated as confidential, said Gamiledien.
