Three suspects who are linked to a business robbery in Port Nolloth were arrested in Springbok and the police seized a firearm, 38 unpolished diamonds and a substantial amount of cash.
THREE suspects who are linked to a business robbery in Port Nolloth were arrested on Saturday after the police followed up on information.
Northern Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock said the suspects were arrested in Tolweg in Springbok.
“The Springbok police followed up on information about a business robbery that took place in Port Nolloth on December 7, 2022. The members intercepted a vehicle with seven suspects inside it. Three of the suspects were arrested and the other four managed to flee when the police stopped and searched the Toyota mini-bus. The police confiscated one firearm, five live rounds, a gas pistol, 38 unpolished diamonds and a substantial amount of cash consisting of international and national currencies,” said Kock.
He added that the suspects are linked to an incident where a business owner was robbed of a large sum of money.
“The three suspects are between the ages of 18 and 41 years old. They are residents of Johannesburg and Port Nolloth. The police are linking the suspects to a business robbery that took place in Port Nolloth, where seven suspects threatened the owner of a business, tied him up and fled with a large amount of money.
“The three suspects will appear in the Springbok Magistrate’s Court soon.”
Kock added that the police are searching for the other suspects.
“The police are searching for the four other suspects who are still at large. The public is warned not to approach the wanted suspects as they might be armed and dangerous.
