A THIRD suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a butchery in Kimberley.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sergio Kock, said that the Northern Cape SAPS Trio Crimes Unit arrested a 34-year-old male suspect on Saturday afternoon at a house in Galeshewe.

“Police are still searching for two other suspects and request that the community do not approach them as they are armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding the incident can call Detective Captain Doggy Magugu on 074 580 7338. All information will be treated with the strictest of confidence,” he said.

Kock said that an alleged armed robber was wounded in a shoot-out with police and another suspect was arrested following the armed robbery at a butchery near Phutanang on Friday afternoon.

“It is alleged that five Afrikaans and Setswana speaking male suspects entered the butchery where they shot and injured one of the male employees. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money and ran into a nearby veld where one of the suspects was wounded in the crossfire between the police and the alleged robbers. Another male suspect was also arrested in the veld by the police.

“The investigation continues”, Kock said. – African News Agency (ANA)
