On Friday, 28 May 2021, the members of Prieska Visible Police closed down shebeens during a crime prevention operation and confiscated liquor with an estimated value more than R30 000.

According to police spokesperson, Captain Olebogeng Tawana the operation was led by Prieska Designated Police Officers after three houses were identified which were dealing in liquor illegally.

“The alleged houses were under police surveillance after they were identified as houses which were contravening the Northern Cape Liquor Act of 2/2008.

“Liquor was confiscated from three shebeens, and owners were slapped with fines.

“The shebeen owners are warned in strongest terms, to refrain from dealing in liquor illegally,” Tawana said.
