The bust came after police searched a car.

THE NORTHERN Cape Provincial Organised Crime Detectives arrested two alleged drug pedlars in Kirstenhof, Kimberley, on Monday after they were found in possession of drugs and cash.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Captain Olebogeng Tawana said that the police searched a silver grey Volkswagen Polo in which two occupants, aged 36 and 39, were travelling.

“The driver was found in possession of 21 pieces of khat, weighing 9.86 grams, and an undisclosed amount of cash,” said Tawana on Tuesday.

“The police also searched the suspect’s residence in Auction Street where they found a second suspect in possession of khat, weighing 8.26 grams, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.”

Tawana said that the drugs found in possession of the suspects and the cash were confiscated.

“The suspects are facing counts of dealing in drugs and are expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon,” concluded Tawana.
