Controversy continues to surround mental health hospital

The Northern Cape High Court has declared a settlement agreement that was arrived at in 2017, to pay the liquidators of Vista Park Development (Pty) Ltd/Joh-Arch Investments (Pty) Ltd, null and void.

WITH renewed promises that the 160-bed Kimberley mental health hospital will open this month, the controversies surrounding the R2 billion facility, which 14 years on has yet to open its doors, continue to rage.

The Northern Cape High Court has declared a settlement agreement that was arrived at in 2017, to pay the liquidators of Vista Park Development (Pty) Ltd/Joh-Arch Investments (Pty) Ltd, null and void.

The joint venture was the first contractor to be employed at the site of the mental health hospital in 2005, where construction costs ballooned from R250 million to about R360 million.
