Company director appears on tax charges

The director of Batsha Ba Tirong Financial Management (Pty) Ltd allegedly submitted a false company income tax return for the 2018 financial year as well as a false VAT return for the November 2018 VAT period.

THE DIRECTOR of Batsha Ba Tirong Financial Management (Pty) Ltd Zo Marius Augustian Bocks appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

He is facing charges of fraud and contravention of the Tax Administration Act.

According to the Criminal Investigations Unit of the South African Revenue Service in Kimberley the accused allegedly submitted a false company income tax return for the 2018 financial year as well as a false VAT return for the November 2018 VAT period.

This resulted in a loss of R21 million to the South African Revenue Service.

The case was postponed until July 7 to allow the accused to obtain legal representation.
