KIMBERLEY’S Sol Plaatje University (SPU) will extend student registration until Thursday, February 29.

SPU spokesperson Qondokele Sompondo said the university had registered the largest intake of first-year students this year.

“The university, as of last week, enrolled 2,202 first-year students for the 2024 academic year,” said Sompondo.

The dean of students, Nicole Morris, indicated that 2024 marked SPU’s 10th anniversary since initially opening with only 124 students in 2014.

SPU vice-chancellor Professor Andrew Crouch encouraged the new students to embrace this next phase in their journey and to improve and grow.

The president of the SPU student representative council (SRC) for 2023/24, Letlhogonolo Thintha, stated that the SRC would ensure that new students would have a smooth transition into university life.
