Mpompolas said she was overwhelmed and humbled by the award.

“I feel incredibly blessed to have so many amazing, supportive people in my life and hope that more teachers from the school, and the Northern Cape at large, will be recognised for all the exceptional work they do.”

She added that she was passionate about teaching and was committed to offering quality education to her pupils whom she regarded as “her babies”.

“To say I am slightly obsessed with my pupils is an understatement. I give all the credit for this accolade to them. I would like to dedicate this award to my mom, Ann Mpompolas, who is my number one supporter. Her love and encouragement has carried me through my teaching journey.”

Technical High School principal Micheal Ludick , won the provincial excellence in mathematics FET award and deputy principal Lene Geyer won the provincial excellence in secondary school leadership award.
