IT WAS a soaking wet Easter weekend for Kimberley residents, with continuous rain experienced for most of the long weekend.

The South African Weather Service yesterday issued a warning about heavy rainfall and localised flooding over the extreme eastern and central parts of the Northern Cape, which is expected to continue until tomorrow.

The weather for today is expected to be fine along the coast and adjacent interior, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east and widespread in the extreme east. The wind along the coast will be strong south-easterly

The weather office in Kimberley yesterday indicated that more than 40mm of rain was measured at the Kimberley Airport from 8am on Friday morning to 8am yesterday morning.

In the Postmasburg area 40mm was measured.
