Traffic authorities today warned against all non-essential travel through Centurion, with the entire CBD enveloped by rainwater.

ER24, Tshwane Fire and EMS, as well as several other services, are currently assisting the public in the Centurion, and surrounding areas, following the heavy rains and flooding. Numerous people have been left stranded in buildings, as well as others searching for higher ground.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, warned that heavy rainfall contributed to smaller rivers and low-lying areas filling up quickly, leaving dangerous conditions across large parts of an affected area.

Heavy rains on the N12 between Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom on Sunday saw at least eight motorists having to be rescued and numerous abandoned cars,  taken to a place of safety after they became stuck on the flooded roads. Further warnings have been issued of heavy rain in the North West for tomorrow and on Thursday.
