LOCAL model Linathi Makawu made the Northern Cape and the country proud after scooping three titles at the 2019 Junior Model International Fashion Runway pageants held in Dubai recently.

The 17-year-old Grade 9 pupil from Kimberley Boys’ High School walked away with a host of titles, including Mr Prince of Africa 2019, Best Talent and First Prince Junior International Model.

Linathi showed that he is not only a handsome face but has a warm heart as well, contributing to several charities.

2019 proved to be a fruitful year for Linathi as he scooped a number of awards before excelling in the nationals, where he was crowned Mr Junior Teen South Africa 2019 in Pretoria and Mr King of the Universe in Johannesburg. He also took the second prize as Mr Junior Tourism South Africa 2019.

Also on Linathi’s sleeve of achievements are Best Model South Africa 2019, Best Ramp South Africa 2019, Mr Personality SA 2019, Best Interview 2019, and Mr Photogenic 2019.

He has further been crowned Mr Groen-myn in Kimberley in 2018 and in 2019, as well as Mr Festive Season in Kimberley in 2018.

The young model is also known for his charity work within his community. He dug into his own pockets and sponsored groceries and snacks for crèches and various charities.

He expressed his gratitude towards his tutor, Jean Marie, for mentoring and believing in him, and also his mom, who continues to support his dreams in whatever manner she can.

Linathi’s advice to his peers is that nothing in life is impossible. “If you are determined and disciplined, and have a dream, you must always put God first as everything is possible in Him.”
