The 32-year-old man lured the woman to his place and held her hostage at knife-point before murdering her.
ELTON Ashley Willemse, 32, who was accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend, was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Northern Cape High Court on Thursday, February 18.
Police spokesperson, Captain Olebogeng Tawana said that he was found guilty of murdering his ex-girlfriend after he lured her to collect her clothes at his house in Roodepan in February 2018.
Upon her arrival the accused locked her in the bedroom and kept her hostage at knifepoint.
He stated that the 31-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times in her upper body and in her back.
“Willemse, who has a prior conviction for rape and was released on parole for this crime, was arrested at the murder scene and has been in police custody until he was sentenced.”
The Northern Cape Police Management applauded the investigating officer Sergeant Charles Gaboinewe and the National Prosecuting Authority for ensuring that the accused was permanently removed from society.
