THE CITY Clinic in Bultfontein Road will be closed on Monday afternoon for decontamination after a cleaner, employed by the Department of Health, tested positive for Covid-19.

Sol Plaatje Municipality spokesperson Thoko Riet said on Monday that the cleaner had tested positive on Friday. “The cleaner is employed by the Department of Health.”

She added that the municipality’s cleaning section would decontaminate the facility on Monday afternoon and it would reopen on Tuesday.

“Patients requiring urgent medication were assisted this morning, especially those with diabetes and hypertension, whose medication had run out over the weekend. However, as soon as they have been helped, the clinic will be closed so that the decontamination team can go in.”

A long queue of patients, many of whom arrived early in the morning, gathered outside the clinic on Monday morning waiting to be assisted.
